Mike Pinkowish

Skier, College Student, Web Developer, And Much More

About

Hey, my name’s Mike Pinkowish, and I am, among other things, a web developer experienced in Ruby, Python, PHP, SQL, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and a wide variety of other web technologies.

I believe in developing websites to be appropriate and adaptive. By developing appropriately, I deliver the customer exactly what he or she needs.   The site will run sleekly and smoothly, without bloat, just as it should. Adaptive websites are able to perform consistently under varying conditions. They are able to handle heavy loads without sacrificing content or functionality.

I’m an undergrad at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Class of 2011. I am majoring in Computer Science with a minor in Economics. Outside of coursework, I’m president of the RPI Ski & Snowboard Club for 2 years in a row. In 2007, I graduated from Fordham Preparatory School in the Bronx, NY with a 3.98 GPA and distinguished with the Cardinal Bellarmine Award.

I was raised in the New York City area, in Westchester County, NY. I worked on the front-end team at Time Inc. during summers 2007 and 2008.  In summer 2009, I interned at Google on the Google Earth team in Mountain View, California.  I’ll be returning to Google in summer 2010 to work on user experience at YouTube.

Since summer 2008, I’ve been doing back-end engineering for GoFISHn, a site where both professional and amateur anglers and guides can connect.  I’ve also had the experience of freelancing for smaller web development firms, such as KISS Computing, which operates in the US and Ireland.
