Wow, it seems like February flew by, just like that. It’s March 1st, and the semester’s half done. Next week I’ll be on spring break, but sadly not at South by Southwest 2009.
Looking back, I’ve done some really cool stuff in the last month. Some of it, I can’t talk about (yet), but I’ll fill you in on the other stuff. ChristianArca.com was probably the most exciting project I’ve worked on recently. I essentially spent the better part of two days learning how WordPress works and converting a few PNG files into a great-looking, flexible WordPress theme.
Surprisingly, this is the first website I’ve written HTML/CSS for that hasn’t required any ‘hacks’ to display correctly in what I consider the three major browsers (Internet Explorer 7, Firefox, andSafari). What I did spend a lot of time was integrating the widgets for Twitter, Last.fm, and Flickrinto the theme. Overall, working on Christian’s site was a great experience, and I picked up a ton of knowledge on the workings of WordPress. I’ve updated my portfolio to reflect the work I did on the site. If you want to learn more about Christian, follow him on Twitter.
Now, in a complete change of topic, Safari 4 Beta is available to download for Windows and Mac. While I haven’t had a chance to play with it yet, I’ll have some remarks about it later in the week. I’ve heard it’s a big improvement over Safari 3, but we’ll see if it can replace Google Chrome as my default browser.
