September Begins
September 3, 2008
Since the last time I posted in mid-July, I’ve been pretty busy. I finished my job at Time Inc. by the end of July and picked up an iPhone 3G (talk more about it later) around the same time. After that, I went traveling and relaxed, just to enjoy the summer. I visited friends up in New Hampshire, hung out with my cousins on Cape Cod, and flew out to Portland, Oregon to visit a friend.
Classes started on August 25th, and I’ve been kept really busy. Computer Organization (learning how compilers work and writing assembly code) and Data Structures & Algorithms are definitely going to be the most difficult and time consuming classes this semester, but I’ll make it through fine. I absolutely love Perl, even after just one class. It doesn’t hurt that the teacher is really good, too.
My iPhone is pretty good. It’s definitely a huge step up from my Samsung Sync (not that it was a bad phone by any means), but the iPhone has it’s problems. Two things that really bug me are a laggy keyboard (usually occurs while text messaging) and the fact that a few of my Apps (Safari, NYTimes, myLite, Monkey Ball, Facebook) crash too frequently (sometimes on start up, which requires me to restart the phone). Besides that, the phone is great. It does email, browses the web. It has stocks, weather, and GPS. Overall, I like my iPhone 3G.
Before I go: Yesterday, Googlle unleashed Google Chrome. Chrome is an excellent browser. After just one day of use, I use it almost exclusively when I’m not doing web development. It is really fast. Go check it out.
