Summer 2008 and Dragonfly

May 15, 2008

This coming Tuesday, May 20th, I’ll be back working at Time Inc. Interactive under Alla Gringaus. My time will be spent working with some of the best front-end developers in optimizing high-volume, big-name websites such as TIMEPeople.comIn Style, and many more. I’ll be commuting to Midtown Manhattan every weekday to the Time & Life Building until the first week of August.

Recently, Google opened up Google Doctype, a comprehensive reference on numerous web-related topics, ranging from security to DOM standards. It’s a valuable resource to any web developer.

While I’m still on the subject of valuable resources, Opera Software, known for their Opera browserand mobile web browser, Opera Mini, unveiled Opera Dragonfly Alpha. Dragonfly alpha is Opera’s first step in creating a powerful JavaScript debugger and DOM inspector, similar to Firebug. Dragonfly offers step-by-step debugging to find breakpoints, inspect CSS, find errors, and debug the DOM. Dragonfly looks very promising as more and more features are added to it.

Finally, you may (or may not have) noticed a small change I made to the main page. The ‘Something Interesting’ tablet now features randomly chosen content from the database. Currently, there are only a few entries. Over time, I’ll add more interesting tidbits. If you’re lucky, you may in fact learn something interesting.
