Two Saturdays ago (the 5th), I decided to woke up early to give a tour of Rensselaer to a friend and his family. Unfortunately, my friend had to cancel, so I decided I would get some work done. After a few hours of my work, my T61’s hard drive broke. Dead. Kaput. Gone. Normally, I’m good about backing up, and most of my important files were safely on my external drive. However, the computer science project I was working was completely lost, putting me back about 5 hours of work.

I went the weekend without my laptop, and got it repaired by Rensselaer Computer Repair Monday morning. The replacement drive was free (like the laptop) as covered under my Lenovo warranty.

The next day, Tuesday, I awoke to a power outage because a Pepsi truck slammed into a power pole, killing the power to Freshmen Hill, for a few hours. Later that day, the fire alarm went off for no apparent reason. Finally, and here’s what’s best, my hall flooded that afternoon. When someone flushed a urinal on the second floor which proceeded to break. It then spewed water, like a firehose, for about an hour, before the water was finally turned off. However this forced our hall to be evacuated for a few hours while Troy Fire Department drained the hall. Fortunately, my room was, but alot of my friends couldn’t spend the night in their rooms and lost many belongings. For the next few days, an army of fans and dehumidifiers invaded our hall as they attempted (successfully) to prevent mold from setting in. Life is pretty much normal now, and I’m devoting alot of time to learn Flash.
