As I’ve mentioned before, I’m currently taking an Economics course that I really like. A lot of my enjoyment of the class is attributable my professor, Bob Jones, but the subject matter is very interesting. A lot of what we’re covering now likely would’ve been covered in a high school economics course, but we are moving forward to more advanced topics, and I look forward to it.
In fact, this class is causing me to reconsider my currently planned minor of physics. I’m weighing my options, and seriously considering making economics one of my minors. A major in computer science with a double minor in economics and Chinese is more useful and practical than a double minor with physics and Chinese. I still haven’t made any final decision yet, but I’ll keep you up to date on what I decide.
Last Friday, Microsoft announced it plans to buy Yahoo for $44.6 bn, at $31 a share. At the time Yahoo’s stock was trading at about $19 a share, but quickly shot up to $28 a share, where it’s been hovering since. Google posted on their official blog, their concern with the take over. Google fears Microsoft may use their position to establish a monopoly on the internet. I have mixed feelings on the issue, but it is possible Yahoo will ask for more money before it accepts Microsoft’s offer.
